All natural and commercial soaps contain lye. In the soap-making process, lye, also known as sodium hydroxide, is indeed used to turn oils into soap through saponification. However, it's crucial to understand that no lye remains in the final product after curing is complete. During saponification, lye reacts with oils to form soap molecules and glycerin, leaving no lye residue behind. This ensures that the soap is safe and gentle for the skin. While it's important to be transparent about the ingredients, you can feel reassured that the soap undergoes a transformation during curing that renders it completely safe for use.
